EDITORIAL

On to another month of beautiful weather, even if we do need the rain; work’s progressing at the ‘grounds’ because of it! That simply means the grounds team won’t have to rush in April and May to finish getting ready for the Rodeo.

MEMBERSHIP

The new membership drive is coming along. We have almost as many new members as we did others (notice I did not say “old” members, that might be construed as inflammatory! besides, I’m getting on that side too!! ) Those of you who have signed up for CALSTAR, you are getting a real deal! The cost for transportation for medical care is almost as expensive as the care itself. And when you live in a remote, yes, compared to Sacramento, San Francisco, Roseville, etc., we ARE remote, specifically when the local hospital is not set up for trauma. When I broke my leg a few years back, I was taken to the local care facility and they transferred me to Reno. Now I was not in much shape to argue, or even figure out how to get there, so my wife did! Yep, she drove me to Reno, with a broken leg in the back seat of our Chevy Tahoe!! I wish I had CALSTAR then!! So, if you change your mind, and want CALSTAR, go to our website at pvrodeo.com, click on memberships, and all forms and info is there. If you know of anyone wants to join the P.V.C.R.A. just for Calstar, that’s okay too. We’ll take them as a member. If you have any questions, email me @ jefc@fspennvalley.com.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

We filled the two positions for the vacant board members. Let’s give Marilyn Bonnington-Bourdet a big Penn Valley Howdy. Marilyn is no stranger to the Rodeo though. She has been doing publicity for us for a few years. She has been a great help and very dedicated. Actually I am kind a prejudice though because she does stuff I don’t have to do anymore! Yay! Oh yeah….HOWDY Marilyn!!!! Our other new director is Steve ??? Sorry, I don’t know his last name yet. I am still waiting for his info. But I do know this. Steve has been very helpful with us in the lighting project. He is a hard worker and very knowledgeable. Glad to have you with us Steve. And a big Penn Valley Howdy to you!

RODEO

The Rodeo is right around the corner. WE WANT YOU! Come to the meeting on Tuesday, February 14 at the Cook House at 6:30 P.M. and get involved. We have many things that you could do. We’d love to have ya’.

ARENA LIGHTS

The concrete bases for the new arena lights are in! The poles are wired, the lights will be mounted soon and then the poles erected. Hopefully when we get it done, we can have a “Light Party”. Maybe we can turn on the lights one evening, soon, and meet and talk with all our friends in the community.

ARENA

The arena is open. What rain we had did give us one puddle in the west end by the west barrel, so if you want to right, stay out of the puddle!

Also, keep watching these newsletters for updates to the new sponsor sign framing we will be installing. Bob Winters has a plan to take our sponsors banners to new heights. Way to go Bob!.

And Remember

When everything's coming your way,
You're in the wrong lane.
